What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is an exciting and dynamic educational tool used to enhance teaching and learning. You may use Blackboard to view or post grades, have a discussion using the bulletin board, collaborate with a group, or submit/receive an assignment. There are many exciting features in Blackboard and we have training and how-to sheets available to help you discover and work with them.

Blackboard Instructional Technology Update

  • Jami Cotler will be returning to full time teaching in January so ITS will be handling all questions dealing with Blackboard. Thank you Jami for your tireless support of Blackboard over the past two years!
  • We will be loading the Spring 2010 courses into Blackboard on December 18, 2009. Students will be added on January 4th.
  • ItunesU and Turning Point - two new Bb building blocks will be available in January. Please join us on Feb 1,2 010 for a Lunch in Learn about these two new building blocks and a demo on Grademark. A notice with time and place to follow.

Course Creation and Student Enrollment

  • New courses will be created one month before the start of the semester. Students will be enrolled in upcoming semester courses two weeks prior to the start of the semester.

    • Microsoft Converter: The Helpdesk is pleased to convert any Microsoft Office 2007, or Microsoft Works file into Microsoft Office 2003 format. Simply bring the document on a flash drive to the Siena Helpdesk at Hines Hall 101, or e-mail the file to helpdesk at siena.edu. Please title the subject of the e-mail "Microsoft File Conversion Request - Your Name".
